The first production release of tikpay "Oddball" contains the following features and improvements:

Assisted

  • Pay using a contactless card and digital wallet (eg. phone, wearables)
    • Visa and Mastercard
    • Apple Pay, Google Wallet and Samsung Pay
    • Tap without unlocking a phone or wearable (Google Wallet and Samsung Pay)
  • Ticket purchase price subject to CVM limit
    • AUD $100 for Mastercard cards in Australia
    • AUD $200 for Visa cards in Australia
    • No limit on digital wallets
  • Submitted as a deferred payment to reduce dwell time
  • Tap contactless card / digital wallet as a ticket for future trips (as well as paper ticket)

Unassisted

  • Contactless card and digital wallet (phone and wearables)
    • Visa and Mastercard
    • Apple Pay, Google Wallet and Samsung Pay
    • The tap location displayed in travellers' digital wallet
    • Tap without unlocking a phone or wearable (Google Wallet and Samsung Pay)
  • Fare calculation
    • Registered concession card holders charged their concession rate
    • Travellers' fares for the day are aggregated into a single charge
    • Daily caps supported for full and concession fares
  • Debt recovery
    • First Ride Risk (FRR) for declined payments (FRR in Australia currently supported by Visa - Mastercard to support from Feb 2025)
    • Scheduled and tap-initiated debt recovery to recoup outstanding payments

Card as Credential

  • Travellers may tap on and off with the same contactless card / digital wallet that they purchased their ticket with
  • Registered students (and other concession card holders) with a ticket or pass can tap on and off with their registered fare media (eg. smart card or payment card)

Level 3 EMV certification in APAC

  • PAX devices supported: A30, A33, A35, A50, A60, A77, A80, A99, A800, A910, A910S, A920, A920Pro, A920MAX, A930, A930RTX, A960, A3700, A6630, A6650, A8500, A8700, A8900, Aries6, Aries8, Q10A, IM25, IM30
  • Route to Network gateway model (Cybersource initial gateway)
  • Direct to Issuer acquiring model (Westpac initial acquirer)
  • Visa and Mastercard acceptance

Driver console integration

  • Assisted ticketing purchases on Driver Console Unit (DCU - Transportme initial vendor) sent to tikpay validator
  • Transit metadata from Driver Console Unit sent to tikpay validator
  • Tap data together with device data (e.g. GPS), metadata and purchase data (as applicable) is sent to tikpay's back office
  • Closed-loop smart cards (eg. Transportme) taps are routed to the issuer for processing

Concession card registration

  • Travellers can create an account in person at the operator's office / store
  • Operators can register their concession card, products (eg. school passes) and fare media
  • Physical contactless cards and smart cards

Operator portal

  • Search and view customers, transactions and trips
  • Fundamental reports; List Management, Settlement & Daily statistics
